Sunglasses and eyewear are categorized as personal protective equipment. As such, before placing these products on the EU market, it is mandatory to ensure compliance with the Personal Protective Equipment Regulation.  This regulation places items of PPE into one of three categories, depending on the type of hazard that they are intended to protect against.
