China Amends GB 6675.2, GB 6675.11 and GB 19865 for Toy Safety

One of the largest trends in the toy business is the growth of China’s domestic toy market. From being a fast-growing market dominated by low priced generic product, China has grown to become the 2nd biggest toy market during the last decade. Toys imported to China are subject to mandatory requirements, either under the CCC certification program, or national (GB) standards and technical specifications.

On July 13, 2022, China’s State Administration for Market Regulation published Announcement (No. 9 of 2022) approving amendments to three mandatory standards.

According to Announcement (No. 9 of 2022), published by China’s State Administration for Market Regulation amendments for GB 6675.2 and GB 19865 are effective immediately, as of the date of announcement on July 13, 2022. Implementation of the amendment to GB 6675.11 will have a transitional period, until February 1, 2023.

The following table summarizes the amendments and their implementation dates.
