Chemical Test Tube

Bisphenol A (BPA) is a chemical produced in large quantities for use primarily in the production of polycarbonate plastics. It is used to enhance the durability, and heat resistance of plastic products and is commonly found in various consumer products such as water bottles, kitchenware and food containers.  Studies show that Bisphenol A may interrupt hormones and cause other damages to the human body.

In the US market, the FDA deauthorized the use of BPA for baby bottles, sipping cups, and epoxy resins packaging for infant formulas.  Additionally, around 15 US states also have their own laws restricting the use of BPA, mainly in food contact materials intended for children.

Since Q4 of 2021, over 50 claims had been reported in California in relation with BPA content found in different products.
