SGS has recently obtained the accreditation for the Voluntary Certification for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical Appliances and Electronic Products (hereinafter referred to as Voluntary Certification) from the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). With this accreditation, SGS can provide the certification service to support enterprises to comply with "Rules on the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical Appliances and Electronic Products", so called China RoHS.
On May 16, 2019, SAMR and MIIT jointly announced the “Implementation Arrangement for Conformity Assessment System for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical Appliances and Electronic Products” (also known as Implementation Arrangement) for China RoHS. The Implementation Arrangement stipulates that, for electrical appliances and electronic products included in the “Standard Achieving Management Catalog”, enterprises should choose the voluntary certification or the self-declaration to complete the conformity assessment on the restriction of hazardous substances.
Enterprises that choose the Voluntary Certification need to submit an application to an accredited third-party certification body, who will then assess whether the products meet the relevant standards and technical specifications on the restriction of hazardous substances. Enterprises who have passed the certification can obtain a certificate issued by the certification body. The certification body will report the certification information to the public service platform within 5 working days upon the issuance of the certificate.
The certified enterprises can refer to the "Rules on the Green Product Labeling” (hereinafter referred to as the Rules) for use of the certification label. According to the Rules, enterprises can choose to use or display the green product label on the product body, nameplate, packaging, accompanying documents (such as instructions, certifications, etc.), operating systems, electronic sales platforms, etc.
