New IAF Resolution for ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 Certification
Following the issue of the 2015 versions of the standards, the end of the transition period for ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 is fast approaching.
The International Accreditation Forum (IAF) has released a new resolution that will affect many certificate holders who have still to complete their transition to the new version of the standard.
Last month, IAF released a new resolution affecting all certificate holders of ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004. According to this release, after March 15, 2018, accredited certification bodies may only conduct audits of environmental management systems or quality management systems using the new version of ISO 9001:2015 and IS0 14001:2015.
For organizations that have not completed their transition before that date, the timing of the process will be dictated through raising and closing non-conformities (where appropriate) against the new standard requirements.
Peter Marriott, SGS Global Accreditation and Standards Manager, said: “The IAF announcement reinforces our commitment to assisting and enabling our clients to make the transition to certification against the new standards to avoid facing any major problems.”
Organizations that do not achieve certification to the 2015 standard by the September 2018 deadline, will no longer hold valid certification, which may affect their ability to supply to all markets.
To assist clients with their transition, SGS has created a Readiness Checklist, so that organizations can gauge how prepared they are for the transition. SGS also holds a library of educational materials – including whitepapers, videos and webinars – to provide clients with all they need to know to achieve a smooth and successful transition. Further support is offered from the SGS Academy team, which has produced a series of training that align with the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 standard, and equip organizations with the tools and knowledge to engage with internal auditor on transition issues.
SGS offers a suite of solutions to help your organization transition from its current ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 certification to meet the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015.
