1.The Supreme People's Court: Several Regulations on Employment Injury Insurance executive cases was implemented from 1 September, 2014
In Judicial Committee’s 1613th conference at April, “The Supreme people's Court: Several Regulations on career insurance executive cases” was passed, which was effective at 1st Sept, 2014. It states that the employing unit should take the liability of Employment Injury Insurance for special cases; it also refines clearly some terms that using in injury cognizance like “the reason of work, working hours, and workplace”, “period of outgoing working”, “come or go off work”, etc. Furthermore, it also clarifies three solutions for the career injuries caused by the third party.
2.“The Occupational Health Surveillance Specification(GBZ188-2014)” was officially published by National Health and Family Planning Commission of the P.R.C
The National Health and Family Planning Commission of the P.R.C officially published “the Occupational Health Surveillance Specification"that was effective at 1st Oct, 2014. This amendment further refines the occupational position contraindication, especially the position with acute posining compounds. It also recommend occupational health examination provided to some occupational positions, and the period of occupational health examination has been changed from 2 years to 3 years.
3.The minimum wage standard was adjusted in Jiangsu Province
The minimum wage standard was adjusted in Jiangsu Province in November, 2014. The latest monthly minimum wages in Jiangsu are RMB1630, RMB1460, RMB1270, and hourly minimum wages are RMB14.5, RMB12.5, and RMB11, which has an average increase of 12%. 4.One food factory in Shandong was under suspicion of employing child labor
At 24th Oct, 2014, a food factory has been figured out for using child labor illegally in Binzhou of Shandong Province, which most of the child labors are come from Sichuan and Yunnan province. Up to now, the incident is still under investigation.
5.The sanitation workers suffer from career discrimination in Guangzhou
In Guangzhou, a sanitation company has over 200 workers went on strike and sit-in protest on 20th Aug, 2014. After 30 days of demonstration and negotitation, the workers’ appeals were basically solved. Finally, they were told:“ only Guangzhou residence could sign the new contract immediately, but the non-Guangzhou-residence need to waiting for further notice. The workers consider “ further notice“ is a kind of discrimination, so they are still waiting for solutions from relative departments.
6.Fire accident in a toys factory in Shantou
There was a fire accident in a toys workshop on 1st Nov, 2014, but no one was injuried. Preliminary estimation, more than 700 square metres of the plant has caught alight. Up to now, the accident is still under investigation.
7.Leakage of benzene in a chemical plant in Zhejiang
Benzene leak happened at a chemical plant in Quzhou, Zhejiang Province on 5th Nov, 2014. The accident caused 2 persons died, 7 persons in hospital and several persons feeling sick. The plant has arranged the health examination for the employees and the nearby villagers who may suffer bad effects, though the cause is still under investigation.
8.2013-2014 Social Responsibility Report of Chinese Textile and Apparels Industry was released
The 2014 social responsibility’s annual meeting for Chinese textile and apparel industry was held in Beijing by China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC) in September, 2014. The main focus of this meeting are the 2013 CSR work summarization for textile and apparel industry, the challenges in the social responsibility construction, and the sustainable solutions which are line with the trend of social development and industry characteristics.
9.The supplier of one luxury down-jacket brand was exposed for animal abuse
On 4th Nov, 2014, Italian television reported that the supplier of one luxury down-jacket brand pull out the goose feather with inhumane method, making the goose scarred. Then, the enterprise group made a statement and clarified that all the goose feather they used are provided by the certificated supplier who keep strictly with the regulation of International Down and Feather Bureau (IDFB) and safeguard the welfare of animal. In the meantime, the enterprise group would like to take the legal action to the column of the Italian television.
