1.The draft amendment of the Safety Production law of P.R.C was passed on 31st Aug, 2014
The draft amendment of the Safety Production law of P.R.C was passed in the 10th conference of 12th Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, which will be implemented from 1st Dec, 2014.   The “amendment“ emphasize on the main responsibility of enterprise, increases the degree of penalties and punishment, which is a breakthrough in regulatory system.

2.The first White Paper on social responsibility for insurance industry has been released in 2014
The first white paper on the social responsibility for insurance industry has been released by CIRC in July, 2014.  The white paper combines tranditional sample survey and drawing data from the biggest data pool.  This is the first time that CIRC conducts social responsibility evaluation and requirement investigation for insurance industry.  It helps insurance industry in establishing the social security system, improving social influentiality, and the economic compensation system, as well as helping economic restructuring.

3.The minimum wage standard was adjusted in Zhejiang Province
The minimum wage standard was adjusted in Zhejiang Province in August, 2014.  The latest monthly minimum wages in Zhejiang are RMB1650, RMB1470, RMB1350 and RMB1220, and hourly minimum wages are RMB13.5, RMB12, RMB10.9, and RMB9.8, which has an average increase of 12.5%.  For more information, please visit SGS Minimum Wages Map

4.University students gather against HBV discrimination
22 university students from different cities in China gathered against HBV discrimination in Guangzhou on Jul 22, 2014, and introduced the knowledge of hepatitis B.  They have submited a written request to Guangdong Health Bureau, hoping to reduce the price of the medicine and vacination for hepatitis B’s.

5.The first national career discrimination case rounds off
The application as a Nanjing Government officer of a Uni-student from Xuancheng, Auhui Province was rejecte, because she is non-Nanjing residence in Apr, 2013. After 15-month lawsuit, she has got RMB11000 as compensation through mediation, and becomes the first successful case against job discrimination in China.

6.Fire accident in a lighter factory in Hunan
There was a fire accident in a lighter workshop on 21st Aug, 2014, 4 people injuried.  According to the safety officer, it was due the leakage of butane gas.

7.Leakage of ammonia in a chemical plant in Ningxia
There was a leakage of ammonia inside a chemical plant in Yinchuan, Ningxia Province on 7th Sept, 2014, 33 people got poisoned from inhaling volatile gases. Up to now, the accident is still under investigation.

8.Update and the implementation of new BSCI Code of Conduct
In 2014, BSCI organization launched BSCI’s new Code of Conduct, and has been implemented since 1st May, 2014.  The new BSCI Code of Conduct includes the social responsibilities in corporate culture, and ethical business behavior, emphasizes with no precarious employment, to achieve continuous improvement of working conditions in the international supply chain.

9.The fifth Fortune Global Green Economy Forum held in Beijing
The fifth Fortune Global Green Economy Forum was held in Beijing on 23rd Aug, 2014.  The aim of the forum is to evaluate global trend of sustainable development and economic situation in China. Discussed industrial restructuring; green economy business models, as well as building the service system in terms of green economy in technology, investment and capacity, and the global green economy industrial cooperation system.
