European Commission published《CERTIF 2012-06 – Notified Bodies - The use of the notified bodies number for activities not required by EU legislation》. There is an update on the use of the notified bodies’ name and number, and guide the public to understand the use of notified bodies’ name and number on test reports. This action is to prevent any additional burdens not envisaged by legislation and practices that could undermine the credibility of the system of notified bodies.

From 1st Jan 2013,SGS will provide EU approval service for those toys which are not under the scope of “EC-TYPE EXAMINATION” , a “Certificate of Compliance” will be endorsed and issued by SGS EU toys Experts for those compliance products to replace the “Notified Body Report”.

“Notified Body Report” will only be applicable to those toys under the scope of “EC-TYPE EXAMINATION”, it mainly includes “Chemical toys and chemical moulding sets containing chemical compounds not fully covered by EN71-4 and EN71-5, Liquid filled toys, Crystal growing sets, Trampolines, Remote controlled toy helicopters, Toys launched by elastic band”.
