In January 2008, the Hong Kong Government has once again updated the proposal on Hong Kong Nutrition labeling.  The proposing information in the nutrition label included energy plus seven nutrients (7+1) (namely protein, carbohydrate, fat, saturated fat, tans fat, sodium and sugar).
For labeling carbohydrate content on the Nutrition label, there are two options given: i) If the amount of “Total Carbohydrate” is provided instead of “Available Carbohydrate” on the nutritional labeling, the amount of dietary fiber must also be provided. ii) If the amount of dietary fiber is not provided on the nutritional labeling, the amount of “Available Carbohydrate“ must be provided on the nutritional labeling.
