SGS Promotional Offer: Free UK Report for new EN 62368 Applications
EN 62368-1 is applicable to the safety of electrical and electronic equipment within the field of audio, video, information and communication technology, and business and office machines with a rated voltage not exceeding 600 V.
IT equipment (ITE) and audio / visual equipment manufacturers need to ensure they are ready for December 20, 2020, when EN 62368-1 (or its national equivalents) replaces EN 60950-1.
Moreover, starting from 1 January 2021, the UKCA mark will become the conformity assessment marking for Great Britain for most goods currently subject to CE marking. That includes EMC, RF, LVD products, etc. Products must use the UKCA marking from 1 January 2022.
However, the UKCA marking will not be recognized on the EU or Northern Ireland markets. Products currently requiring a CE marking for sale in the EU will continue to need a CE mark. Existing stock that has been fully manufactured and conformity marked can still be placed on the UK market after 1 January 2021 with existing markings and notified body numbers.
A DoC (Declaration Conformity) to UK regulation should be prepared along with the UKCA mark:
- e.g. Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 (UK equivalent to LVD)
- e.g. Electromagnetic Compatibility Regulations 2016 (UK equivalent to EMC Directive)
As the conversion date becomes closer, SGS is supporting clients to make the transition. Starting from today, for all new EN 62368 applications, we can issue an additional UK deviation report with UK VoC free of charge, based on CE report & CE VoC.
