On 1 May 2020, the new standard of a well-known Japanese company, S, for the hazardous substances was updated to the 18th-edition for general use.  This new standard will take full effect on 1 Jun 2020. The parts, materials, and other goods that are procured by the related companies, or by third parties to which the S group outsources the design and manufacture of its electronic products shall fulfill the regulatory requirements.

The main revisions of the 18th Edition of the standard in comparison to the 17th are as follows:

3 Lead and Lead compounds Regulatory scope, Limit, Exemption
4 Cadmium and its compounds Regulatory scope, Limit
5 Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and its salts and related substances Management Level, Regulatory scope
6 Perfluorohexane sulfonates (PFHxS) and its salts
New restricted substance, Management Level is 3
7 Bromine compounds Regulatory scope
8 Chlorinated compound Regulatory scope
9 Tris(2-chloroethyl) phosphate (TECP) New restriction
10 Metal compound Regulatory scope
11 4-Aminoazobenzene New restriction, Test method
12 PAHs Regulatory scope
13 BPA New restricted substance, Management Level is 3
14 Substances in candidate list for authorization of EU REACH regulation Listed in Annex B 
15 CMR Substances of EU REACH regulation (Entry 72) Listed in Annex D
