The Service Quality Wing of Hong Kong Police Force Receives ISO 9001:2015 Certification from SGS
The Service Quality Wing of Hong Kong Police Force (the Force) is certified to ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems Certification with the certified scope including “Design, development and preparation of the Living-the-Values (LTV) Workshops”.
The certification presentation ceremony was successfully held on June 7, 2018 and Ms. Miranda Kwan, the Certification & Business Enhancement Director of SGS, was invited to present the certificate.
Since 2005, the design, development and preparation of LTV workshops have been accredited to the ISO 9001 standard. This platform makes sure robust protocols are in place to ensure a high quality training product is consistently produced that not only meets staff needs, but also satisfies the needs of senior Force Management and the Force as a whole. ISO certification also adds credibility to the workshop design, development and preparation processes.
In April 2018, the Force completed the migration to ISO 9001:2015. The latest revision with its increased emphasis on risk-based thinking improves governance, builds a strong knowledge base, and encourages a proactive culture for continuous improvement.
Ms Miranda Kwan, said at the ceremony, that the Hong Kong Police Force Management leadership and commitment with team cooperation & actions which are the key critical factors for successful certification. Systematic & Risk based approach can help the Force further enhance the services quality to meet both internal & external client’s expectation.
The Force is currently in the process of delivering the ninth wave of LTV workshops, and staff feedback is very encouraging. Over 90% of the staff whom have attended the workshops have graded the workshop content and design as “Very Good or Excellent”.
The Force is committed to ensuring the design, development and preparation of LTV workshops continues to be at the highest quality, and will fully utilize the ISO 9001 standard to achieve this.

2017 Marked the 20th Anniversary of the Hong Kong Police’s Living-the-Values workshop programme, which was first launched in 1997 with the publication of the Force Vision and Statement of Common Purpose and Values. Since 1997, a total of eight waves of workshops have been held for all staff including regular auxiliary and civilian.
LTV workshops provide a valuable opportunity to promote awareness and acceptance of the Force Values; allow staff to air views of concern; and provide feedback to senior Force Management. Engagement to identify staff needs and expectations is vital to the success of the programme.
