181 Substances in Candidate List of SVHC
As a major focus of REACH regulation, the candidate list of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) has undergone several updates since the entry into force of REACH regulation. On 15 Jan 2018, a new batch of seven substances was added to the SVHC Candidate List by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). As a result, the SVHC Candidate List has been increased to 181 substances. In addition, the existing SVHC Candidate Bisphenol A (BPA) was updated to include its endocrine-disrupting properties which demonstrates probable serious effects to the environment.
If an article contains any SVHC (concentration above 0.1%(w/w)) included in the Candidate List (see Table 1), the EU manufacturer or importer shall fulfill the obligations of notification and provide sufficient information on request to consumers within 45 days upon the receipt of this request；Suppliers must notify ECHA about the SVHC in products if the concentration of a SVHC is above 0.1% (w/w) and the import quantity is above 1 tonne / year. Suppliers of substance or mixture have to provide a safety data sheet (SDS) to their downstream users.
