Background

The R&TTE Directive (1999/5/EC) transition period will end in June 2017, and the new version (Radio Equipment Directive: 2014/53/EU) will become the only approved wireless communication product access rule in the EU market.

On April 19, 2014, the RED directive was officially signed as a Harmonization of the laws of the European Union (EU). and it was expected that the EU would be able to issue a complete RED Gazette (on the market) until June 13, 2016, OJ: Official Journal) to regulate all products within the jurisdiction of the RED Directive.

RED Updates

  • In accordance with the rules of the RED Directive Chapter 3, Section 17, the requirements of conformity requirements of 3.2 and 3.3 must be in full compliance with the harmonized standards of the bulletin;
  • If the non-harmonized standard is used or part of the compliance is found, manufacturers must apply by the EU's designated body (Notified Body) in accordance with RED Appendix III procedures for review, access to RED approval (NB Opinion), to legally enter the EU market.
  • According to the procedure in Appendix IV, the manufacturer chooses the designated organization (NB), carries on the factory examination, passes the examination before enters the EU market.
  • In accordance with the requirements of Section 20, add the number of the notified body to the CE certification mark (Identification number of the notified body)
