Worldwide Cruise Terminals Awarded ISO 9001 Certification
The Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, operated by Worldwide Cruise Terminals (“WCT”) achieved significant milestones in 2015 beginning with a successful homeporting season, winning the Best Port Management Award from the China Cruise and Yacht Industry Association, and being certified for ISO 9001 Quality Management. WCT ended the year having handled more itinerary cruise passengers (228,809) than all Hong Kong facilities combined in 2013, and achieved a local record-setting highest throughput day of 11,099 passengers on 21st December 2015.
Successful first major homeporting season
Approximately 80% of ship calls at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal in 2015 were turnaround calls, and from July to October of 2015, the Voyager of the Seas was homeported in Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, Hong Kong’s largest ever homeported ship. It embarked on a total of 22 international journeys, carrying nearly 70,000 guests, many first time cruisers and also seasoned travelers, aboard the 138,000 ton vessel through itineraries featuring a total of 12 ports of call including China, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and Vietnam.
Best Port Management Award
Worldwide Cruise Terminals (“WCT”), was proud to receive the Best Port Management Award from the China Cruise and Yacht Industry Association during the Shanghai Cruise Conference in October 2015. The Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, which entered service in mid-2013, has since provided quality terminal facilities and services to a host of cruise ships to Hong Kong from multiple lines including Celebrity Cruises, Costa Cruises, Cunard, Fred.Olsen, Oceania, Princess Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Royal Caribbean, Seabourn, Star Cruises and Voyages of Discovery. It has also delivered exceptional experiences to over 360,000 cruise travelers from around the world. “The Best Port Management Award is an industry tribute, providing further motivation for our team to continue scaling new heights,” said Jeff Bent, managing director of WCT. “This award is a great achievement for the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal and will help solidify the city’s status as a home port of choice for connecting to regional destinations such as Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, and beyond.”
ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System Certificate
Worldwide Cruise Terminals passed the assessment for the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System in November 2015, and was awarded the certificate by the SGS Hong Kong on January 25th, 2016. The ISO 9001:2008 standard certifies adherence to quality management principals, by which an organization demonstrates its ability to consistently provide products or services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. ISO certification also aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and regulatory requirements. Worldwide Cruise Terminals has developed and implemented a Quality Management System in order to document the company’s best business practices, better satisfy the requirements and expectations of its clients and improve the overall management of the company. Bent further remarked, “ISO 9001 certification reflects our commitment to management excellence and also marks a major milestone in our journey towards continual improvement.”
