SGS and Green Key have created an agreement aiming at attracting more hotels around the world to introduce the Green Key programme, the world’s leading eco-label for hotels and other tourism facilities implemented in more than 2,300 establishments in 47 countries worldwide. The agreement allows the hotels in countries without a Green Key national operator to apply for Green Key under the management of Green Key International and an audit carried out by SGS. This makes the application much easier. Green Key is a voluntary eco-label based on compliance with a range of criteria including environmental management (e.g. Water, Waste, Energy, and Electricity), environmental awareness-raising, green initiatives for the stakeholders and so on.

The green tourism establishments can take the advantage of fulfilling Green Key requirements to decrease the environmental impact of each overnight stay. It also contributes to encourage the client and employees to behave sustainably. Lastly, it impresses the tourists since they are demonstrated that how a green establishment acts environmental responsibly, leading to the raise of corporate image and the creation of loyal client.

If you want to act green, please do not hesitate to contact Ms Zonta Yung (DL: (852) 3543 7997 / 9839 0262 or e-mail: zonta.yung@sgs.com).
