Germany GS Mark Tightens Up on PAHS Requirement
GS (Geprüfte Sicherheit) Mark, indicating the product is “safety tested”, is a highly recognized product marking in Germany. Under GS Mark, PAHs content is a mandatory test requirement. A total of 18 PAHs are restricted under GS Mark at present.
In August 2014, the German Committee on Product Safety (Ausschuss für Produktsicherheit, AfPS) updated specifications for PAHs under GS Mark. Each of product category 2 and 3 is now splitted into 2 sub-categories.
The 2 sub-categories are
- Toys as defined in Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC (TSD) and
- Other products according to the General Product Safety Directive (GPSD)
The new PAHs requirement will be in effect on 1st July, 2015.
The new PAHs requirement is listed as below.
