ISO 9001:2015 (DIS) was passed in the ISO/TC 176/SC 2 on 10 Oct 2014 after a 3-month voting period ending on 10 Oct 2014.The ballot for the ISO 9001:2015 (DIS) started on 10 Jul 2014 and ended on 10 Oct 2014, during which 72 valid votes were received. Sixty-four (64) out of these 72 voted “Yes”, created a 89% passing rate which is higher than the 2/3 votes (66.66%) required for passing the ballot.

With the passing of the DIS version, the draft standard proceeds officially to the FDIS stage. Most votes that were casted were sent in with comments. These comments would be reviewed and incorporated into the FDIS version. The final publication of ISO 9001:2015 is currently scheduled to be released in Q4 2015.

Though the approved ISO 9001:2015 (DIS) is not the final publication of ISO 9001:2015, it at least provides you some indications on what might be included and what might be changed. The application of risk-based approach and the revision of terminology are some of the indications that may be included in ISO 9001:2015.
