HACTL IS AWARDED GOOD DISTRIBUTION PRACTICES (GDP)
Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) attains the requirements of SGS Good Distribution Practices (GDP) and is awarded with SGS GDP certification. The scope of certification covers air cargo handling, logistics and storage services for pharmaceutical products including normal products and cold-chain products. This certification demonstrates Hactl’s commitment in achieving international standard like, the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) quality assurance guideline in the area of pharmaceutical products handling.
GDP is a quality system for warehouse and distribution centers dedicated for medicines. It ensures that consistent quality management systems are set up throughout the entire supply chain, from the early delivery of raw materials to the manufacturing plants, to the final shipment of finished drugs to the end user.
To fulfil GDP requirements, competent staff is required. So, Hactl sent their supervisors and operation managers to complete the professional GDP training course which includes standard’s requirement, operating procedures and quality issues. To ensure all pharmaceutical handling areas meet GDP hygiene standards, Hactl regularly cleans and sanitises the areas. In the aspect of storage, Hactl improves the temperature-controlled zones in its SuperTerminal 1 facility in order to store pharmaceutical products requiring different range of temperatures. Temperature mapping and 24-hour monitoring by qualified staff are used to maintain the temperature status.
“Given the growing importance of pharma traffic to the airfreight industry, we see it as our duty to our customers to introduce the highest-possible standards for the handling of such cargo,” said Mr. Mark Whitehead, Hactl Chief Executive. It shows Hactl’s top management dedication and commitment to raise its service quality to meet market expectation.
Operated since 1976, Hactl is established to support the import, export and transshipment of air cargo in Hong Kong, contributing to the growth of the economy of Hong Kong over the past 38 years. With no affiliation to any carrier, Hactl has been able to provide airline customers and freight forwarders worldwide with unbiased services. Its base, SuperTerminal 1, is capable of handling 3.5 million tonnes each year.
