POPs Regulation refers to Commission Regulation (EC) No 850/2004 on Persistent Organic Pollutants. After several amendments, more than 20 substances including but not limited to short chain chlorinated paraffin (SCCPs), some polybrominated diphenylethers (PBDE), and perfluorooctane sulfonic acid and its derivatives (PFOS) are included. And the prohibition list will continue to expand.

There is growing concern about “POPs compliance” in the electrical and electronic industry. International buyers include “POPs compliance” as one of the major requirements for product sourcing. According to EU RAPEX, a variety of products have been withdrawn from the market due to incompliance with “POPs Regulation”. Corporate reputation of the corresponding importer would inevitably be damaged.

In traditional testing approach, one has to individually test for each substance on each component of a finished product in order to check “POPs compliance”. This required high cost, in terms of both time and money, especially for electrical and electronic product containing a large number of components . To save your valuable resources and to accelerate your trading process, SGS developed a quick solution – POPs Screening Service.

For checking “POPs compliance”, SGS POPs Screening Service is the quick, comprehensive and cost-effective answer.
