Requirements and Test Methods for Spectacle Frames in China
Foreign companies should pay attention to the relevant mainland standards when they are considering investment in China’s spectacles market. In response to consumer concern regarding health and safety risks of frame materials, China published the standard of General Requirements and Test Methods (GB/T 14214-2003) for spectacle frames.
This standard specifies the attention on product classification, requirements, test methods and marking for spectacle frames. In addition, it applies to various spectacle frames made of metal, plastics and natural organic materials; however, this standard does not apply to spectacle frames designed for special protections.
The test item of spectacle frames - General Requirements and Test Methods (GB/T 14214-2003) as shown in the following table:
|test object||no||item / parameter|
|Spectacle Frames||1||Materials of frames|
|2||Screw Threads used in frame|
|6||Dimensional stability under high temperature|
|7||Mechanical stability – tensile strength|
|8||Mechanical stability –bridge deformation|
|9||Holding force of lens|
|11||Coating performance – coating adhesion force|
|12||Coating performance – sweat and corrosion resistance|
|13||Resistance to ignition|
