Currently, Germany UNEP (UBA) and non-governmental organizations are collaborating in the set up of a platform regarding information survey on SVHC.

Consumers can simply log on to the platform and enter the product barcode, the platform will then automatically send an e-mail back regarding product manufacturing enterprises who had requested information on SVHC candidate substances. The establishment of the platform is expected to encourage more consumers concerns about products containing SVHC candidate substances.

UBA recently reminded enterprises in Germany that a new chemicals violation Penalties (ChemSanktionsV) was in effect since May 2013. All enterprises must ensure that all of their products must comply with EU REACH regulations regarding SVHC information transfer and the requirements of Annex XVII of prohibited substances or face severely punished (see table below).

So how to ensure that the products meet the requirements of the REACH Regulation in order to avoid any penalties?  SGS recommends that all enterprises to conduct in-depth chemical analysis to their products to accurately determine the compliance in regards to these new regulations.

SGS provides SVHC candidate substance testing, Annex XVII substance testing, and REACH conformity assessment solutions that can effectively help enterprises to actively respond to REACH regulation requirements to ensure product compliance, and smooth entry into the EU market!
