Special Offer EU Food Contact Material or Articles Tests
For food contact materials (FCM) to enter the EU market, in addition to the EU REACH regulations and the RoHS restricted substances requirements (if it is electricity-driven), manufacturers should also pay attention to the EU food contact material regulation – Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004. This regulation lays down the chemical requirement for FCM, such that these materials should not change the composition or organoleptic properties of the food substances. Migration limits are also set specifically for different plastic FCM as laid down in the Regulation (EC) No 10/2011.
In addition to the general EU FCM requirements, if manufacturers plan to import their food contact articles / materials to the Germany, France or Italy market, additional FCM requirements are specified and that they may also their own food contact materials classifications. The table on the right lists some examples of the special requirements for these markets other than those required by general EU.
Moreover, although not made as mandatory, the German market is especially aware of the presence of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in household appliances. Therefore, manufacturers are highly recommended to test against PAH as listed in the German GS Mark requirements to increase the products’ market values.
To help clients to comply with all the necessary food contact requirements for the whole EU market, we are pleased to offer a 30% off discount to all FCM tests submitted through HK SGS Electrical and Electronics department. This irresistible offer only lasts till 30 Sept, 2012.
