Energy-using Products (EuPs) Alert for Lightings Products
Commission Regulation (EC) No 244/2009 and 245/2009 issued on 18 March 2009, domestic and tertiary sector lighting products fall within the scope shall comply with the regulations before placed on the market.
Having regard to the Directive 2005/32/EC ecodesign requirements for EuPs, regulations relating to lightings products enter into force in order to reduce the electricity consumption, minimize the overall lamp mercury content and to increase the market penetration of technologies yielding improved energy efficiency or products.
Staged entry into force of the ecodesign requirements provide a timeframe for manufacturers to redesign products subject to these regulations.
