Global Recall of Coffee Machines
In 2007, San Francisco Superior Court has filed a court case settlement on coffee machines (Case No. 470688). It is the well known California Proposition 65 issue and it is the first case extending to electrical household appliances. Such settlement has engaged a testing program on “espresso machines” to monitor leachable lead as not more than 5 μg/l for the water extract.
In EU, a recent issue for heavy metal leaching in coffee machine for catering use has been drawn to attention by Belgium authority. It is an issue related to heavy metal leaching on lead and nickel.
