Norway PoHS - Prohibition on certain hazardous substances in consumer products
The Norwegian Pollution Control Authority has released a proposal for new chemical restrictions applying to consumer products, including electrical and electronics products. Norway PoHS restricts 18 substances, with only Lead and Cadmium being in common with EU RoHS. PoHS is more stringent that the maximum concentration values are as low as 5ppm. It will have significant impact on Norwegian consumable manufacturer, import, export and sale. PoHS is originally planned to become effective on 1st January 2008. However, it may be potentially delayed as there are considerations for around 90 responses to Norway’s stakeholder consultation.
