More Stringent Quality Requirements for Chinese Textile Products
For the purpose of protecting the health of consumers, improving the quality of fashion apparel and strengthening the market control, the Administration for Industry and Commerce in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou appointed the testing centre to conduct the quality test of the retail and brand apparel. It covers textiles, leather, imported apparel, child wear and so on.
The main items for the test includes: labeling, fiber content, formaldehyde content, pH value, colourfastness¡]including colourfastness to water, acidic perspiration, alkaline perspiration and rubbing¡^, odour, aromatic amines released by the azo colourants, labelling, dimensional change rate and so on.
Since 1st January 2005, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China implemented the “National General Safety Technical Code for Textile Products”. According to the new rule, garment labelling should be put together with label declaring meeting the new standard, GB18401, in order to show that products conform to safety requirements. The relevant GB test report should be deemed to be effective only if it is conducted by testing bodies authorized by the PRC.
SGS in China has been carrying out testing and inspection services for years, and utilizes its international experience to provide customers one-stop service.
