Facing limited resources with rising consumption rate, the people must change their practices in order to bring our world to sustainable future. Thus, sustainable practices are inevitable in companies. To gain more insight on integrating sustainable development mindset or goals into businesses, SGS is here to guide you through it with our Sustainable Development Practitioner Course Series.


The contents are innovative to address Global UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) adopted by world leaders and implemented locally in Hong Kong for a better world, including:

  • Demand Chain Management and Supply Chain Management
  • Design Thinking and Sustainable Development Goals/ Mindset 
  • Practices for Managing SDGs to Bridge the Gap

Option 1:
Introductory Course ( 1 day)

The program will introduce the idea of Design Thinking, Mootee (2013) that ‘everything has changed, is changing, and will continue to change’. The 1-day programme is to provide insights to participants about the growing trend of integrating sustainable development mindset/ goals with entrepreneurial spirit and design thinking for the future.

Course Outline:

  • Introduction to Design Thinking and Entrepreneurial Spirit
  • Relationship between United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and
  • Sustainable Development Mindset
  • Implications to Business, NGOs, Education sectors

Target Audience:
The program will be suitable for business/ social entrepreneurs, industry practitioners, educators, trainers, students and promising talents who intend to have an overview of the key concepts for the future world

Option 2:
Practitioner course (3 days)

The program will introduce the ideas of Demand Chain Management (DCM) / Supply Chain Management (SCM) that disruption for existing practices is needed for corporate sustainability.  It will integrating the ideas of DCM/ SCM with Design Thinking, Mootee (2013)/ entrepreneurial spirit and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) for synergy and for becoming a sustainable development practitioner which will be demanded in the future world.

Demand Chain Management and Supply Chain  Management

  • Introduction to Demand Chain Management 
  • Introduction to Supply Chain Management
  • Supply Chain Operations Reference Model 

Design Thinking/ Entrepreneurial Spirit and Sustainable Development Goals / Mindset

  • Introduction to Design Thinking / Entrepreneurial Spirit in new product/ service development
  • Application of UNSDGs and Sustainable Development Mindset into Demand Chain / Supply Chain Operations  
  • Case study and role play       

Practices for Managing SDGs to Bridge the Gap

  • Introduction to gaps observed and identified
  • Application of SDGs for learning how to achieve good practices in operations 
  • Application of 4Cs / DLDDC Model / SY model/ ISO 100015 training standards for good practices to close the gap
  • Case study / video production

Dr. Shirley Yeung, an Institute of Environment Management and Assessment (IEMA) approved Sustainability (CSR) Practitioner, RABQSA, ISO9000 Principal Auditor, US, IRCA ISO 9000 Auditor, UK, AQIP Assessor, US, HKCAAVQ Subject Specialist . In 2016, Dr Yeung was one of panels of PRME Colloquium on Higher Education workshop of 7th PRME Asia Forum in Hong Kong. Dr Yeung was also invited by Harvard University, HPAIR to deliver a seminar on "Entrepreneurial Spirit and Sustainable Mindset". In 2015, Dr. Yeung awarded “Pioneer Professor Certificate” from UN Flourish Prizes, US for guiding a student in writing a story on FujiXerox’s sustainable development achievements; and she was also the convener for the 1st Forum on Sustainable Development in Higher Education co-organized with UNESCO, APEID and the Chair of the 2nd International Conference on Supply Chain for Sustainability, Hong Kong.

In 2014, Dr. Yeung was nominated by Nobel Prize Winner for Wenhui (文晖) Award for Educational Innovation, UNESCO, APEID. And, she was a Visiting Scholar of National Taipei University (NTPU), Taiwan and Visiting Professor of Lipscomb University, US. In 2013, Dr. Yeung received professional training certificates from different Schools in Harvard University, US. Also awarded “Fellowship/ FMBA/ Chartered Manager” from Chartered Canadian Institute of Business Administration (CCIBA). Dr. Yeung also awarded the “Outstanding Employee Award” and obtained “Best Teacher Certificate” from HKQAA and Hang Seng School of Commerce (HSSC) in 2006 and 2007 respectively.


Center for Corporate Sustainability and Innovations (CCSI), is the first one and only one in Hong Kong to adopt ISO 10015 for training effectiveness under the clientele of SGS, Hong Kong.
