Ends

With the upcoming MANDATORY ESG REPORTING REQUIREMENT by HKEx, it is believed that an increasing number of Hong Kong listed companies will integrate sustainability into their business strategies and report on their sustainability risks, impacts and performances. GRI’s Sustainability Reporting Guidelines are the most widely-used global sustainability reporting standard, enabling businesses to track and publicly disclose their sustainability impacts and performance. The latest generation of GRI’s Guidelines – G4 – has been well received by companies across regions and industries, and many HKEx listed companies use the Guidelines to communicate their sustainability-related commitments. In a globalized economy, companies that comply with local requirements and internationally-recognized standards can enjoy an advantage in sustainability management, and better demonstrate their transparency and accountability.
To facilitate the reporting practice of these companies, GRI firstly organizes its GRI Regional Hub China Annual Reporters Meeting in Hong Kong. It is hoped that through this meeting, the Hong Kong sustainability professionals can:
- UNDERSTAND how to take advantage of the synergies of the GRI Guidelines and the HKEx ESG Reporting Guide to meet the specific requirements of HKEx and communicate about material sustainability issues;
- LEARN from leading and peer organizations through experience and case sharing on the reporting practices;
- STRENTHEN the quality and credibility of their sustainability reporting.
