European Commission has laid down a new Regulation (EU) No. 995/2010, also called EU Timber Regulation, to prohibit illegally harvested timber and products placing into EU market by 3rd March 2013. Listed timber and timber products including sawn wood, wooden board, wooden frames, pulp and paper and wooden furniture are controlled under this Regulation. Importers of such products are required comply with the regulation while the downstream suppliers shall provide the necessary information.
